Spider Kalbybidi (1928-2008) was born near the Canning Stock Route at Unjada and was initiated into manhood at Naru. He walked in from the desert near Well 33 to Bidyadanga in the late 1960s with other members of the Yulparija people whose land was threatened by severe drought. Spider was a senior lawman from the Western Desert.
Spider says of his country, "He belong to me. We call him Naru. This is where they make me man,Spider. We been walking around but that boys country now. This is good bush country with green grass and plenty mayi (bush tucker)."
