Explications sur cette œuvre :
Lisa UHL (1976) is living in Fitzroy Crossing in the West berley area of Western Australia. Her language group is Wangkajunga and she has lived all of her life in Fitzroy Crossing. Lisa represents her love for her family's country through her abstract paintings. She displays her unique cultural connection to place through art, and whilst never actually having seen Turtujarti, walnut trees from the Great Sandy Desert. She diplays with mesmerizing effect her love of this country which she recalls from the stories she has been told by her eiders and more specifically by Jukuja Dolly Snell, her aunty who raised her from an infant. Lisa's layering of colours creates an atmospheric rhythm within her works which speaks of the humidity and expanse of the Kimberley. Her work is represented by Mangkaja Art Centre and has been shown locally and nationally in group and solo exhibitions.
