Explications sur cette œuvre et l’artiste :
This painting depicts designs associated with the site Winparku in Western Australia. The lines in this work depic the tali (sandhills) surrounding this site. A group of senior women camped at this site gathering various bushfoods such as bush onions, and the small seeds known as wangunu or woollybutt, from the perennial grass Eragrostis eriopoda. The husks are removed and the seeds ground into flour, water added and the paste cooked in hot coals and ashes. The resultant loaves can be stored for considerable periods.
