Explications pour cette œuvre :
Nine senior Spinifex men (Fred Grant, Ned Grant, Roy Underwood, Simon Hogan, Lawrence Pennington, Simon Hogan, Ian Rictor, Noli Rictor, Patju Presley, Lennard Walker) have joined with their portrayal of Country in this large scale collaboration. Each artist paints an opening, an entrance into the significant sites that they hold cultural responsibility and authority for. And each is acutely aware of the others presence within the painting and the sites that they depict, with all having learnt from birth, the labyrinth of Tjukurpa or Creation Lines that weave through the landscape. These are the physical manifestations of the first beings and their journeys, the monolithic reminders of the power they possessed as they created the immediate environment and wrapped it in a cultural and moral fabric of prophetic proportions. Symbiotic within these lines is the engagement of the Inma, the sacred song and dance, the unparalleled oral creationist history that has survived for eons. This painting is the telling.
