Explications pour cette œuvre :
Ned Grant, Fred Grant, Ian Rictor, Lawrence Pennington and Roy Underwood have collaborated to produce this combined area of Spinifex country.
Each man has painted his ngura (country) and the associated tjukurpa (ancestral story). Ned Grant paints Ilpili an place within his country and where the sandhills are unusually convoluted containing underground water. This area is guarded by dangerous underground snakes that guard the precious water supply.
Fred, Ned's brother was born at Ukadatjara in the same region as Ilpili. It also contains soak water and was considered a good place to retreat to when the surface water dried up.
Ian Rictor paints Tuwan where the giant wanampi (serpent) created the creek that flows thorugh the area during big rains. Roy and Lawrence also paint the area of unusual sandhills and underground snakes of Miramiratjara.
